clay/body is a series of actions recorded through a sculptural product. It is based on the female corporeal presence (its physical form, capacity, resistance, and pain tolerance), and its relationship to clay. The body fits into and forms the clay, the clay surrounds the body and imitates it, covers it, completes it, and in the body’s absence it also represents it. The artist resided in the forms while creating them and used her body to shape them, often as an exercise of endurance and discomfort but also as a tactile, immersive, and ritualistic space.
